A little bit of history about Athercroft Kennels:
In 1968, Bonnie and Glenn Conner founded Athercroft Kennel. Early on through Homer and Merc Downing's mentoring, Bonnie wanted to follow in the footsteps of the breeders like Stanley O'Neil & Nancy Laughton, along with others who were so dedicated to not just saving the breed from extinction after WWII, but preserving the integrity of the breed & what made it unique as compared to the other retriever breeds.
Bonnie wanted the kennel name to reflect those influences hence "Ather"for Atherbram & "croft"for Pewcroft!
Charlie Fippin and Dee Turkelson were the 'next generation', maintaining the form and function of a retriever, as well as a family companion. Through the years, Athercroft FCR have been praised for type and temperament. Ruth Marsh entered into the Athercroft family in 1993.
Dee and Ruth are honoring the Athercroft of the past with preserving the integrity of the breed and bringing a well bred and healthy companion to families and friends. Bonnie Conner Faron continues to be a 'Breeder Emeritus' to Athercroft!
